I don’t know if I have the right words to describe Rosevera’s work as a doula but I’ll try. Rosevera is just amazing! I desired to have a natural birth and Rosevera was a huge part of us accomplishing that. She prepared my husband and I really well and she believed I could do it. She knew the right time to go to the hospital and she didn’t even need to watch the clock, she just understood the signs my body was showing. My midwives already knew her and they said they love her and that brought me so much confidence in her work. She also went above and beyond when I brought my baby home from the hospital. She came to visit and help us navigate those first hours and days. I was so scared as a new mom but she was there for me and my family. Rosevera was invaluable in supporting and leading us through the birth of our son! I wanted to have a minimal intervention birth and Rosevera was there to support the whole time during the labor, almost 24 hours starting at 2am! Rosevera was a great support to my husband, the medical staff and especially to me in helping me emotionally and physically with moving and trying different positions. This was especially helpful in progressing the labor and allowing progress without an epidural. I give my strongest recommendation to Rosevera, you will be lucky if you can have her support at your birth!

1. Most people are confronted with some kind of challenge or concern(s) when they decide to hire a doula. What situation were you dealing with and what did you want me to help you do? 
With our first child, we were mostly just afraid of the unknown.  Jesse also has an extra sensitivity to blood.  He faints when he sees blood, and we were afraid he might faint during the birth.  Though the fainting wasn’t ever an issue, with our second and third child, we knew we were putting our children in good hands… Literally…  The medical staff at Kaiser were so confident in Rosevera’s abilities, they asked her if she wanted to receive the baby.

 2. Why did you choose me? Was there an obvious advantage or anything specific that made me stand out in some way?  We chose Rosevera because of her peaceful demeanor, and her ability to stay calm around chaos.  During all of our births, there was a level of chaos that really needed her calming and peaceful influence.  We also knew that she was not only knowledgeable of the physical aspects of child-birth, she cares deeply!  It is inspiring to see her love for children!

3. What was the return on your investment in a doula?  With our second child, we weren’t sure how fast active labor was coming, and how close we actually were to giving birth.  It went so much faster than our first child.  Because Rosevera encouraged us to go to the hospital when she did, our son was born in a safe place.  Had we waited any longer, he may have been born on the way to the hospital.  We got to the hospital, got her checked in and the baby came within that hour.  We owe the health and well-being of our son in part to Rosevera’s influence.

4. What were your goals for your birth and how did I help you achieve them?  We wanted to give birth naturally and without drugs or other interventions by the medical staff.  Rosevera helped us by offering massages, suggesting different positions to try, music, scents, and always helped us focus on breathing.  We never even got close to needing any medical interventions, and I believe that having Rosevera there helped accomplish that goal.

5. What is it that I do as a doula that you found the most valuable?  Rosevera did everything possible to help prepare us and assuage our fears before the birth.  During the Labor is when she really shines.  She is not pushy, she doesn’t seem distant, she finds the right balance by reading the room and listening to her clients. 

6. What stands out most about your experience with me? Your commitment to your client’s goals and your commitment to the best birthing experience.  We were never worried that you wouldn’t be available when we needed you.  Thank you for all that you do!
